Geddes City Council Meeting
Monday, November 11, 2024
The monthly meeting of the Geddes City Council was held at the City Finance Office in Geddes, SD. The meeting was called to order by Mayor, Mike Krietlow, at 7:30 p.m. with the following council members present: Carol Oberbroekling, Amy Rolland, Sue Schulte, Andy Kok, Monica Vander Pol and Sandy Gant. Also present was Donna Paulson, Finance Officer.
Established change to the agenda was Tim Whalen’s response on reducing the liquor commission.
No public input.
Monica Vander Pol made a motion to approve the October, 2024 minutes. Carol Oberbroekling seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
October, 2024 financial reports were presented. A motion was made by Andy Kok and seconded by Sandy Gant to approve these reports. Motion carried unanimously.
November, 2024 disbursements were presented. Sue Schulte made a motion to approve the November, 2024 disbursements and Amy Rolland seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Bills as followed were paid:

Old Business:
The council was informed that Mike Krietlow and Donna Paulson phoned Attorney, Tim Whalen, to see if the Blue Room liquor commission could be reduced. Tim Whalen advised no reduction.
New Business:
Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to offer an operating agreement for 2025 to the Blue Room. Sandy Gant seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Monica Vander Pol made a motion to offer an operating agreement for 2025 to the Lone Tree Steakhouse. Sue Schulte seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Amy Rolland and Andy Kok abstained.
Monica Vander Pol made a motion to leave the yearly liquor commission of $3000.00 the same for 2025. Sue Schulte seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
2025 Uniform Alcoholic Beverage License renewal forms were received from the Lone Tree Steakhouse. Sue Schulte made a motion to approve the renewal forms. Carol Oberbroekling seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Uniform Alcoholic Beverage License application for Platte Creek Brewing for Retail (on-sale) Liquor was received. Sandy Gant made a motion to approve the application. Monica Vander Pol seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Public hearing will be held on 11-25-24 at 5:30 p.m.
Mike Krietlow informed the council that he obtained estimates from C & B in Corsica, SD on 3 different skid loaders. Trade in value of the city’s skid loader is $16,500.00. 2024 JD 324G comes with a small bucket and will cost the city $51,500.00. 2023 JD 330G has 240 hours on it and will cost the city $57,500.00. 2024 JD 330G will cost the city $64,500.00. Both of the 2024 models have a 5 year warranty. This item was tabled.
Maintenance: Mike informed the council that the dump has been burned. Ditches from 4th street to 6th street on Iowa Avenue will be burned.
Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to adjourn at 8:03 p.m. Andy Kok seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
