Geddes City Council Meeting

Monday, May 11, 2026

The monthly meeting of the Geddes City Council was held at the City Finance Office in Geddes, SD. The meeting was called to order by Mayor, Mike Krietlow, at 7:30 p.m. with the following council members present: Carol Oberbroekling, Monica Vander Pol, Andy Kok, Sue Schulte, Travis Gant and Amy Rolland. Also present was Amanda Vasek and Donna Paulson, Finance Officer.

Established change to the agenda was chip sealing.

Public input = Amanda Vasek met before the council to reserve the city park for Arts in the Park on July 10, 11 and 12 and August 7, 8 and 9.

Andy Kok made a motion to approve the April, 2026 minutes. Monica Vander Pol seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

April, 2026 financial reports were presented. A motion was made by Sue Schulte and seconded by Carol Oberbroekling to approve these reports. Motion carried unanimously.

May, 2026 disbursements were presented. Monica Vander Pol made a motion to approve the May, 2026 disbursements and Travis Gant seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Bills as followed were paid:

Old Business:

Donna informed the council that Eric Prunty, Brosz Engineering, called and asked if Geddes was ready for Astec to come in and chip seal. One block of the 35 blocks will need to be repaired.

Discussion was held on the RASDAK bike event coming through Geddes on June 5, 2026. Signs will be made and the bikers will be informed to stop at the city park for water, snacks and restrooms.

New Business:

Two sealed bids were received on the hay land. Jordan Pavel for $500.81 and Seth Stluka for $751.00. Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to approve the hay bid of Seth Stluka. Sue Schulte seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

The renewal application for the 2026-2027 Alcoholic Beverage License was received from Platte Creek Brewery. Travis Gant made a motion to approve the renewal application. Amy Rolland seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

John Clem, Planning and Development District III, emailed a list of mitigation projects for the Charles Mix County hazard mitigation plan. Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to participate in the storm ready program. Andy Kok seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

Follow up reports from the code enforcement specialist were received and presented to the council. Sue Schulte made a motion to send 5 individuals a letter. Amy Rolland seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

Andy Kok made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:17 p.m. Amy Rolland seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
