Geddes City Council Meeting
Monday, April 13, 2026
The monthly meeting of the Geddes City Council was held at the City Finance Office in Geddes, SD. The meeting was called to order by Mayor, Mike Krietlow, at 7:30 p.m. with the following council members present: Carol Oberbroekling, Monica Vander Pol, Andy Kok, Sue Schulte, Amy Rolland and Travis Gant. Also present was Donna Paulson, Finance Officer.
Established change to the agenda was a senior project.
No public input.
Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to approve the March, 2026 minutes. Sue Schulte seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Monica Vander Pol made a motion to approve the March, 2026 Board of Equalization minutes. Andy Kok seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
March, 2026 financial reports were presented. A motion was made by Amy Rolland and seconded by Monica Vander Pol to approve these reports. Motion carried unanimously.
April, 2026 disbursements were presented. Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to approve the April, 2026 disbursements and Andy Kok seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Bills as followed were paid:

Old Business:
RASDAK bikers will be stopping in Geddes on June 5, 2026. Restrooms at the Athletic Complex will need to be opened, picnic tables moved from the city park to the historical village, signs made and purchase/make items for the bikers to eat.
New Business:
The city will advertise for sealed bids for the hay land. Sealed bids need to be received by May 8, 2026.
CD that matured on 04-07-26 has a current interest rate of 3% for one year. If the CD was moved to two years, interest rate would be 3.5%. Sue Schulte made a motion to leave the CD at one year. Amy Rolland seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Letter was received from Custom Printing advising that Jennifer will be closing her business.
The 2025 annual report was presented to the council. Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to approve the 2025 annual report. Travis Gant seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Discussion was held on summer help. Monica Vander Pol made a motion to hire Ty Rolland for a minimum of 20 hours per week and not to exceed 40 hours per week at a rate of $20.00 per hour. Sue Schulte seconded the motion. Amy Rolland abstained. Motion carried unanimously.
Discussion was held on clean up days. Clean up days have been set as May 1, 2 and 3, 2026.
Complaints have been received regarding vehicles parked on sidewalks. Mike Krietlow will talk to the individual.
Ty Rolland would like to do his senior project at the little league field. He would like to pour cement under the 4 bleachers. His senior project will need to be completed before school starts in August, 2026. Council agreed.
Building permit application was received from Amanda Vasek. Monica Vander Pol made a motion to approve the building permit. Carol Oberbroekling seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Andy Kok made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m. Travis Gant seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
