Geddes City Council Meeting

Monday, March 9, 2026

The monthly meeting of the Geddes City Council was held at the City Finance Office in Geddes, SD. The meeting was called to order by Mayor, Mike Krietlow, at 6:30 p.m. with the following council members present: Carol Oberbroekling, Monica Vander Pol, Andy Kok, Amy Rolland and Travis Gant. Also present

was Donna Paulson, Finance Officer.

Established changes to the agenda were city council meeting time and trees in the city park.

No public input.

Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to approve the February, 2026 minutes. Monica Vander Pol seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

February, 2026 financial reports were presented. A motion was made by Andy Kok and seconded by Amy Rolland to approve these reports. Motion carried unanimously.

March, 2026 disbursements were presented. Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to approve the March, 2026 disbursements and Monica Vander Pol seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

Old Business:

Donna reminded the council that the annual District 4 meeting will be held in Dallas, SD on 03-18-26. Monica, Carol, Amy, Andy, Travis and Donna will be attending.

New Business:

Donna will be picking up the new assessment book in Lake Andes, SD on 03-12-26. The local Board of Equalization will meet on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.

Mark Burket, Platte Community Memorial Hospital, emailed Donna a new lease on the Geddes Medical Clinic. The lease is in effect 03-01-26 through 02-28-31. Monthly rent of the clinic is $350.00.

Donna informed the council that the Platte Geddes 2 nd grade class will not be attending the April, 2026 city council meeting. There are no further projects for the city park. The 2 nd grade class will be at the city park on May 7, 2026 to clean it up.

Discussion was held on the meeting time for the city council. After discussion, Monica Vander Pol made a motion to change back to 7:30 p.m. in April, 2026. Travis Gant seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

There are a lot of dead trees in the city park. Wood chips are also needed under the playground equipment. Amy will check with the Platte Geddes School to find out the name of the company to get the wood chips.

Donna will contact Randy Baan Hoffman to have him mark the necessary trees that need to be cut down and to provide an estimate. Donna will also ask him if he knows where to obtain wood chips for under the playground equipment.

No building permits received.

Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:55 p.m. Andy Kok seconded the motion.

Motion carried unanimously.
