February 2026 Minutes

                                                                           Geddes City Council Meeting

                                                              Monday, February 9, 2026

     The monthly meeting of the Geddes City Council was held at the City Finance Office in Geddes, SD.  The meeting was called to order by Mayor, Mike Krietlow, at 6:30 p.m. with the following council members present:  Carol Oberbroekling, Monica Vander Pol, Andy Kok, Sue Schulte, Travis Gant and Amy Rolland.  Also present was Donna Paulson, Finance Officer.

     No established change to the agenda.

     No public input.

     Sue Schulte made a motion to approve the January, 2026 minutes.   Monica Vander Pol seconded the motion.  Motion carried unanimously. 

     January, 2026 financial reports were presented.  A motion was made by Carol Oberbroekling and seconded by Andy Kok to approve these reports.  Motion carried unanimously. 

     February, 2026 disbursements were presented.  Monica Vander Pol made a motion to approve the February, 2026 disbursements and Amy Rolland seconded the motion.  Motion carried unanimously.  Bills as followed were paid:

     No old business.

New Business:

     Mayor, Mike Krietlow, informed the council that the front door on the Geddes Medical Clinic was in need of some repairs.  Mike also stated that a new door might possibly be needed.  Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to purchase a door, if needed.  Sue Schulte seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.  Mike also informed the council that the clinic got new computer monitors.  If anyone is needing a 19” computer monitor, they can contact the clinic.

     Donna informed the council that the copy machine is leaving dark streaks down the left side of the paper.  Donna contacted Office Products Center to report this problem.  John informed Donna that it would cost more for repairs than what the machine is worth.  John stated that a new Ricoh digital copy machine would cost $699.00.  Monica Vander Pol made a motion to purchase the new copy machine.  Travis Gant seconded the motion.  Motion carried unanimously.

     Donna informed the council that the annual District 4 meeting will be held in Dallas, SD on March 18, 2026.  If anyone is interested in going, please notify Donna.

     A request for an open container was received from the Geddes Development Corporation for March 7, 2026 at the Multi-Purpose Center.   Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to approve the open container permit.  Amy Rolland seconded the motion.  Motion carried unanimously.

     A building permit application was received from Ben Larson to remove a house and to build a new house.  Sue Schulte made a motion to approve the building permit.  Andy Kok seconded the motion.  Motion carried unanimously

     Sue Schulte made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 p.m.  Andy Kok seconded the motion.  Motion carried unanimously.
