Geddes City Council Meeting

Monday, December 8, 2025

The monthly meeting of the Geddes City Council was held at the City Finance Office in Geddes, SD. The meeting was called to order by Mayor, Mike Krietlow, at 6:30 p.m. with the following council members present: Carol Oberbroekling, Monica Vander Pol, Andy Kok and Amy Rolland. Also present was Donna Paulson, Finance Officer.

No established change to the agenda.

No public input.

Monica Vander Pol made a motion to approve the November, 2025 minutes. Andy Kok seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

November, 2025 financial reports were presented. A motion was made by Carol Oberbroekling and seconded by Monica Vander Pol to approve these reports. Motion carried unanimously.

December, 2025 disbursements were presented. Amy Rolland made a motion to approve the December, 2025 disbursements and Carol Oberbroekling seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

New Business:

Monica Vander Pol made a motion to change the municipal election date to the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June, 2026. Amy Rolland seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to have Charles Mix County News as the official newspaper for the City of Geddes. Andy Kok seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

The SD Association of Rural Water Systems sent a letter asking for nominations to be on their board. No interest at this time.

Discussion was held on stipends for the volunteer works, Ty Rolland and Donna Paulson. Andy Kok made a motion to pay a stipend to the volunteer workers, 20 hours times Ty Rolland’s hourly rate and 25 hours times Donna Paulson’s hourly rate. Monica Vander Pol seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

Donna informed the council that the fluorescent light in the city office is not working. New fluorescent light bulbs were installed, but still not working. After discussion, Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to replace the fluorescent lights with LED lights. Amy Rolland seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

A building permit application was received from Tim Mumm. Andy Kok made a motion to approve the building permit. Amy Rolland seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

Andy Kok made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:04 p.m. Carol Oberbroekling seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
