Geddes City Council Meeting
Monday, July 8, 2024
The monthly meeting of the Geddes City Council was held at the City Finance Office in Geddes, SD. The meeting was called to order by Mayor, Mike Krietlow, at 7:30 p.m. with the following council members present: Carol Oberbroekling, Amy Rolland, Monica Vander Pol, Sue Schulte and Sandy Gant. Also present was Donna Paulson, Finance Officer.
Established changes to the agenda were park trees, mosquito spraying and Fur Trader’s.
No public input.
Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to approve the June, 2024 minutes. Sandy Gant seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
June, 2024 financial reports were presented. A motion was made by Sue Schulte and seconded by Monica Vander Pol to approve these reports. Motion carried unanimously.
July, 2024 disbursements were presented. Sandy Gant made a motion to approve the July, 2024 disbursements and Amy Rolland seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Bills as followed were paid:

Old Business:
Brad Lawrence, Brosz Engineering, had called Donna to inform her that Dan with Pro Seal has been in Geddes to look at the tennis court. Dan stated that the court was in bad shape and to lay a mat over the tennis court would cost approximately $7,000.00. Brosz Engineering will donate $1,000.00. Donna informed that council that there is anonymous donor also. Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to have the mat put down on the tennis court. Sue Schulte seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously
Donna informed the council that she counted the surplus water meters and that there are 117. Donna will contact Ron Gillen to see if he can give us a quote on what to charge.
Donna contacted Dale Strandberg, Astec, to see if someone could come let us know what roads can be down and an approximate cost. Dale has not responded back.
New Business:
It is time to elect a delegate and an alternate to the Southern Missouri Recycling & Waste Management board. Carol Oberbroekling agreed to stay on as the delegate and Amy Rolland agreed to stay on as an alternate.
Open container permit for the Saddle Club for the rodeo and Bull-a-rama. Monica Vander Pol made a motion to approve the open container permits for the Saddle Club. Sandy Gant seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Open container permit for the Lone Tree for a street dance after the rodeo and also for Fur Trader’s weekend. Sue Schule made a motion to approve the permits. Carol Oberbroekling seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
No request received from the Blue Room, so no action taken.
Open container permits for Fur Trader’s was requested for August 8, 9 and 10, 2024. Amy Rolland made a motion to approve the permits. Sue Schulte seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Fur Trader’s President also asked for approval to close block 3 on Main Street for the car show after the parade. Sandy Gant made a motion to approve the closure of the street. Carol Oberbroekling seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Sandy DuFrain asked if some tree trimming and tree removal can be done at the city park. Will contact Mark Gallagher and Baan Hoffman tree service to get quote.
Mike informed that council that there will be mosquito spraying done the next 3 weeks. People should stay inside, close their windows and keep their pets inside.
Building permit application from James Baumberger was received. Sandy Gant made a motion to approve the building permit. Monica Vander Pol seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Carol Oberbroekling made a motion to adjourn at 8:16 p.m. Sue Schulte seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
