The best console games of the 2000s have been on the Sony PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo game consoles such as the Wii. Overall, there have been some great game titles for these game consoles. These are a few of the great console games of the 2000s.

Halo:

To begin with Halo. The Halo games were among the top games for the Xbox, and also Xbox 360. All the Halo game titles were good, but the original Halo was one that started the bandwagon and gained many fans for the Xbox game consoles. This game has ten great levels for the Master Chief to battle through en route to destroying the Halo, featuring some great graphics and audio effects. In addition to the great single player game, Halo was also great for multi-player gaming. Additional sequels to the Halo game title further enhanced the game series up to Halo 3.

Mario Galaxy:

Mario Galaxy is one of the best games for the Wii. Mario platform games always seem to be among the top game releases, and the latest addition to the Mario franchise does not disappoint in this respect. In this great 3D platform game Mario takes to orbit in pursuit of the missing Miss Peach. Aside from the original Mario Galaxy, Mario Galaxy 2 has also been a great sequel with enhanced level designs and graphics.

Call of Duty:

Call of Duty was one of the best FPS games of the last decade. Originally a WW2 FPS game, new additions to the Call of Duty series include Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare for a variety of consoles such as the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. This addition was set in the Middle East, was an even more intense game than that of its predecessors featuring more modern combat scenarios than early Call of Duty game titles. Aside from the single player game, Call of Duty 4 also had great multi-player options which made for a fantastic package.

Super Mario Bros:

In a decade that was dominated by 3D games, New Super Mario Bros bucked the trend and proved to be one of the top game titles of the 2000s. New Super Mario Bros was a Mario game that went back to the old-school 2D platform, but including some 3D effects. New Super Mario Bros on the Wii also included multiplayer options, one of the first Mario games to do so in recent times. New Super Mario Bros was a big hit on the Nintendo DS, and was, is, also one of the best Wii games.

Overall, these were four of the best game titles and series of the 2000s. They include Halo, Call of Duty game titles such as Call of Duty 4, both Mario Galaxy games, and New Super Mario Bros for both the Nintendo DS and the Wii.

Microsoft software is not all Windows and productivity suites, in fact they also have some great game titles! With the release of the original Xbox game console Microsoft extended itself into a console game market giving greater scope to extend its game library. In addition, Microsoft also have some good game titles for Windows PC. Here are a few of the great Microsoft game titles for PC and Xbox 360 console.

Halo game series:

On the Xbox, and Xbox 360 console, few can doubt that Halo has emerged as Microsoft’s outstanding game title. Starring the Master Chief, Halo is a FPS game that helped launch the Xbox game console. The game features excellent graphics, super soundtrack, and perhaps more importantly great plot and game-play. The game series started on the Xbox, and has since been carried on to the Xbox 360 console with Halo 3 and the upcoming Halo Reach. Halo Reach will be the first Halo game that will not star the Master Chief, as it pre-dates the original Halo game in the story.

Age of Empires:

The Age of Empires game series is considered to be one of the best PC game titles. It includes a trilogy of games including Age of Empires, Age of Empires 2, and Age of Empires 3 based in the European colonial era. Such games provide a variety of campaigns in which you need to gather a variety of resources for settlements and armies, which are then used to defeat the opposition armies. In addition to this, Age of Empires also includes multi-player skirmishes where you can select from a variety of maps and configurations. Overall, the games can be considered a little similar to Command and Conquer in some respects, albeit with less advanced armies.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

Banjo-Kazooie on the Microsoft Xbox 360 is a good Xbox 360 game, and another addition to the Banjo series starring the Banjo the bear. Banjo-Kazooie is a 3d platform game that has plenty of classic Banjo themes, and also includes a variety of vehicles which feature prominently in the game. This is an exclusive game title on the Xbox 360 console, and a good platform game.

Rise of Nations:

Rise of Nations emerged as a great alternative to the Age of Empires game. In many respects, the game was similar to Age of Empires, but also had input from Brian Reynolds. However, it also introduced tech trees up to the most advanced times with tanks, nukes, aircrafts, submarines etc. Rise of Nations also had an expansion pack which added some additional features. While the game itself was lacking a little variety and had no campaigns, the skirmish maps and multi-player games made up for this.
